Spring Is Here! And So Is the Good Stuff

A Note From Sandy
Well, friends… we made it through another Michigan winter. And if you've ever lived here, you know that when April finally arrives and the light starts to shift, something just loosens up a little inside you. Around here, we feel that in the kitchen too.
Every season, Michele, Annette, and I get together and start playing with flavors. We taste things, we argue a little (more like a mix of sarcasm and joking), we scrap a few ideas, and then suddenly (and usually without us really knowing what happened) magic happens. This season, the magic is lemon, blueberry, pistachio, and key lime flavored … I genuinely cannot stop thinking about these treats.
I wanted to give you the full picture of what's new at the Shoppe this spring, so grab a cup of coffee and settle in.
I know it’s Spring when lemon and pistachio flavors return to the bakery.
What's Coming Out of Our Kitchen This Spring
April: Bright, Tart & Perfect for the Season
If April had a flavor profile, it would be lemon. Clean, bright, a little assertive. It cuts right through the heaviness of winter. Here's what we're rotating in this month:
Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake. Our classic NY Style base meets a lemon-blueberry swirl. The tartness of the lemon and the natural sweetness of blueberry make this one a crowd-pleaser every single year. Available as full cheesecakes and individual cupcakes.
Lemon Bread. Simple, moist, intensely lemony. This is Michele's recipe and she won't let me touch it, which is how you know it's good.
Iced Sugar Cookies. Decorated for the season and perfect for gifting. Great for spring birthdays, teacher appreciation, or just because the display case looked too pretty to walk past!!
The lemon blueberry cheesecake is the one I look forward to making every year. There's something about that combination that just tastes like sunshine.
May: Mother's Day & Michele's Birthday Month
May is one of our busiest and most joyful months. Here's what's coming:
Lemon Crumble Cake. A seasonal showstopper. Layers of creamy lemon cheesecake and bright lemon curd finished with a buttery crumble topping. This one is gorgeous on a Mother's Day table.
Pistachio Bread. We've been adding pistachio to our bread rotation for a while. It's rich, subtly nutty, and has a beautiful natural color. Annette championed this one and she was right.
BBCCCC. Our beloved Blueberry Cream Cheese Coffee Cake. If you've had it, you already know. If you haven't, that needs to change before May is over.
Key Lime Cheesecake. Because sometimes you need something a little sassy. Bright, creamy, and balanced. Pairs incredibly well with a summer cocktail or an after-dinner espresso.
$1 Mini Cupcakes. All of May, we're celebrating Michele's birthday month with $1 mini cupcakes. It's our way of saying thank you to the woman who turns our ideas into actual delicious reality. Come get a cupcake and celebrate with us. These mini cupcakes will vary in flavors and will be available for in-store purchases only while supplies last!
Come See Us This Spring
This time of year is one of my favorites to be at the Shoppe. The display case is full of color, the coffee is brewing, the outdoor seating is open, and there's this general energy of people being happy to be outside and moving around again.
We'd love to see you. Whether you're stopping in for a slice, pre-ordering something for Mother's Day, planning a wedding dessert table, or just curious about what pistachio bread actually tastes like, you are welcome here!
